FringeNYC Alumni Association Time & Talent Registration FringeNYC NEEDS: Your TIME, TALENT, TREASURE. . . Your WORK, WISDOM, WEALTH. . . What is your current occupation? The Indie Convening (CONVENING COMMITTEE) Part Ted Talk, part SXSW, part Chautauqua, part “-CON” – but entirely Indie. This ALUMNI LED annual gathering runs alongside FringeNYC, and is where our community comes together to discuss issues and ideas. The Indie Convening picks up the mantle of NYTE’s Indie Convocation and stakes our claim to the Indie sector’s place in the “entertainment” ecology as well as our right to chart our own course as a community. The event will feature masterclasses by alumni, panel discussions on issues, vendor booths, presentations by industry partners, and workshops where our artists share about techniques, practice, and central themes of their work. YES! I’d like to help create the Indie Convening. Homecoming Party & Outstanding Alumna/us Award (COMMUNITY COMMITTEE) Beginning in 2018 we’ll be including an annual Homecoming party as a part of the festivities. We’ll need help finding the location, sending out invitations, and yes, decorating! We’ll also be presenting the inaugural Outstanding Alumna/Alumnus Award (either at the Homecoming or at a separate event just prior to the October festival). YES! I’d like to help create the Homecoming Party & Outstanding Alumnus/a Award. Alumni Association Technology & Planning (TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE) Our Alumni Association will officially launch in October, at the festival. We’ll need new members to be able to register in person as well as online. Between now and then we’ll be determining the parameters of both the “members only” online community as well as the public-facing online archives. Alumni Association member benefits and rewards will need to be managed via automation, and the Alumni Association’s presence on the current website will need content curation. YES! I’d like to help build the online Alumni Association. FringeNYC ’18 Cheerleaders & Mentors (OPERATIONS COMMITTEE) Our Alumni will ensure that the artists of FringeNYC’s “Class of ’18” feel welcomed from acceptance straight up through the closing night party. Alumni squads are needed for events throughout the summer (FringeFAIR, Town Meeting, Venue Meetings) and to fill specific mentoring opportunities as we build the next festival (as well as interact with future alumni). There also may be other citywide events at which the FringeNYC Alumni Association will want to have a presence. YES! I’d like to be on the FringeNYC Cheerleader & Mentor team. Archives & Documentary Film (LEGACY COMMITTEE) FringeNYC has twenty years of participants files, program guides, and ephemera in a barn upstate. We MIGHT have the opportunity for them to be a part of an important collection. Prior to that, though, we need to create a scrapbook of memories for each “Class” in the Alumni Association; and scan postcards, etc. that will allow us to authenticate future Alumni Association members (especially from the pre-digital years!). In addition, the Archives Team will be helping with events related to the forthcoming documentary about FringeNYC’s first twenty years! YES! I’d like to help with the Archives and Documentary. And that thing you do / have / could figure out if we needed you to . . . (VOLUNTEERS & VENDORS) But there’s MORE that’s needed. . . some of which we haven’t even figured out, yet! Keep in mind The Present Theatre Company is a not-for-profit organization with one full-time staff member. We need you, and our collective resources, to ensure FringeNYC’s future.
