Built in 1907 and converted to a theatre in the late 1940’s, the Players Theatre is one of New York’s oldest Off Broadway theatres still in operation. It has been home to such long run productions as  An Evening with Quentin Crisp,  Psycho Beach Party and Ruthless starring an 8yr old Brittany Spears, Natalie Portman and Laura Bell Bundy.  Recent productions include  Art People, Magpie, Fate’s Imagination, Straight Up with Twist and Teller and Todd Robbins’ Play Dead.  As home to Literally Alive Theatre adaptations by Michael Sgouros and Brenda Bell have included Phantom of the Opera , The Selfish Giant, Treasure Island, A Christmas Carol and Cinderella.  Upcoming adaptations will include Stone Soup, Alice In Wonderland and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  The Players Theatre is also home to Percussion People now entering its 6th year Off Broadway.  The facility also includes the Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre,  4 rehearsal studios, an office suites and the famous Café Wha.  Please visit www.theplayerstheatre.com for more information and to sign up for the theatre’s monthly e-newsletter and discount offers.
