An important part of the new FringeNYC is the Indie Convening:

Part Ted Talk, part SXSW, part Chautauqua, part “-CON” – but entirely Indie. This annual gathering runs alongside FringeNYC, and is where our community comes together to discuss issues and ideas. The Indie Convening picks up the mantle of NYTE’s Indie Convocation [2007] and stakes our claim to the Indie sector’s place in the “entertainment” ecology as well as our right to chart our own course as a community. The event will feature masterclasses by alumni, panel discussions on issues, vendor booths, presentations by industry partners, and workshops where our artists share about techniques, practice, and central themes of their work.

Any member of the FringeNYC Alumni Association can get involved in making the Indie Convening happen, and tickets for the panels and workshops will be open to the public (and free to FringeNYC participants).
